A few things deserve a second look about this loco. Firstly, am I correct in thinking that the double bar drop link at the rear of the slidebars is so that the rod requires less of a lift should the crosshead pin have to be removed. It would 'ave been 'elpful in my days I must add, though it looks as though the crosshead would have to be a little bit forward of its photographed position to remove the gudgeon pin from the back.

Next, have a look at the leading connecting side rod cap. Its taper pin appears to be set radially in the crank end. The accepted way is of course to drill the tapered hole diametrically so that the taper pin is thrust away from the wheel's centre when the loco is moving.

Finally, I think I would have been given my marching orders had I fitted copper lubricating pipework like that showing. Not only unsightly but 'orrible to work out the pipe you are trying to trace when summat goes wrong!
